Vrbnik
Šurlice, homemade pasta, is maybe the most famous of the authentic dishes of the island Krk and the whole Kvarner region.
It is a kind of pasta made by wrapping the dough around a knitting needle, which is kind of a general rule, but almost every town and village on the island usually has its own special twist in the receipt. Every July in the town of Vrbnik the Šurlice days are being held, as a week dedicated to šurlice and dishes that include them. The guests who visit Vrbnik during those days can try out the handmade authentic šurlice and buy some to take home with them.
Also, during the entire week, almost all restaurants prepare šurlice with different sauces at promotional prices. On the first and last day of the event tasting of šurlice and wine from Vrbnik, wineries are organized in main Vrbnik squares, with the special cultural-entertaining program, presentation of šurlice making and a fair of autochthonous products and souvenirs.
